Naomi Osaka backed to win more Grand Slams

Naomi Osaka's coach expects her to win more Grand Slam titles.

The Japanese ace returned to the sport earlier this year after giving birth to her daughter Shai last July and her coach Wim Fissette is convinced that it is "just a matter of time" before she recaptures the form that took her to world number one.

He told The Sit-Down podcast: "As a team we are very happy with her progress and development.

"We see big improvements week by week physically, and on the court she is really doing better and better day by day. We haven't had the big success we were hoping for but we all believe that it is just a matter of time.

"We are going to keep working as we have been doing and we really feel we are going to have a big success this year."

Osaka won four Grand Slams before becoming a mother and Fissette says the player is determined to "find her true potential" and add to her major tally.

The coach said: "She has won her four Grand Slams and she played amazing tennis but coaching her, I feel there's a lot more to do.

"I do feel that if she keeps making steps forward the result is going to be that she's going to win Grand Slams. That's at least the goal and that's where we as a team really believe in.

"She is a super professional player who is taking care of every detail. She has the mindset now that this is her chance to make the best out of herself and show her true potential and to find her true potential.

"She wants to know how good she possibly can be and she is willing to work super hard for that."
