Phil Foden targets history with fourth straight Man City title

Phil Foden says that Manchester City must seize their chance to make history by winning a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

City will be the first team in English football history to win four league crowns in a row if they beat West Ham on the final day of the season on Sunday (19.05.24) and Foden thinks the feat is unlikely to be matched if they can get over the line.

He said: "It would mean a lot to us because it’s never been done before.

"It’s history and I don’t think I can ever see it being done again.

"It’s something the team understands and we’re looking forward to trying to get it done."

Foden has been honoured with the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year award for an excellent campaign that has seen him hit 25 goals in all competitions and he insists that there is still room for improvement in his game.

The City forward said: "I’m playing with a lot of confidence, I’m playing in a position where I can affect the game a lot more, playing more centrally, and I feel my game has gone up another level.

"I’m still only 23, there’s a lot more to come. Working with Pep (Guardiola) who, for me, is the best manager in the world is only going to help me.

"I feel like my game has come on massively this year. Now I’m getting the rewards I’ve worked so hard for."

Foden is hoping to end the season with a Premier League and FA Cup double for City so he can head to Euro 2024 with England in the best place to succeed.

He said: "If we can win these next two finals we’ll go into the tournament full of confidence."
