Michael Block qualified for 2025 PGA Championship

Michael Block has qualified for the 2025 PGA Championship.

The 48-year-old golf coach will be playing at the Quail Hollow Golf and Country Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, when the annual tournament kicks off on May 15 and runs until May 18.

Block secured his appearance at the event after he clinched a third-place tie at the four-day PGA Professional Championship held at the PGA Golf Club's Wanamaker Course in Port St. Lucie, Florida, from April 27 to April 30, and he will join the top 20 finishing players at the championship that began in 1916.

Block skyrocketed to fame after leaving fans and media in awe of his legendary performance - including a slam-dunk ace - at the 2023 PGA Championship at the Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York.

Despite the 2025 PGA Championship being his seventh appearance, he has only made the cut once - when he was locked in a challenge at the top of the leaderboard, but tied eighth when he went into the final day in 2023.

Block, who is the head pro at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club, got rounds of 64-71-75-74, which resulted in him finishing at 4-under par at the PGA Professional Championship in April.

And he said the goal of the week was to show his son Ethan "the nuances of playing golf", as well as finishing in the top 20 of the tournament's leaderboard.

Block said: "The goal this week was to kind of show my kid (caddie Ethan) the nuances of playing golf, and I think I did.

"Keep it in the fairway off the tee. Hit the green. If you miss the green, get up and down, make a conservative chip and then be a decent putter. I think I showed him a good way to do it.

"And if I finish third, fourth or fifth, or whatever it is, as long as I'm in the top 20, I'm going to Quail Hollow, and I'm very happy."
