Oliver Glasner delighted for supporters as Crystal Palace win FA Cup

Oliver Glasner says that Crystal Palace's historic FA Cup win was for the fans.

The Eagles beat Manchester City 1-0 at Wembley on Saturday (17.05.25) to secure the first major trophy in the club's history and the coach praised those who have stuck with the team through thick and thin.

Glasner, who won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022, said: "No one expected Frankfurt to win the Europa League and no one expected Crystal Palace to win the FA Cup.

"You can see what you can get when you are patient.

"As football players and managers, the biggest success is not lifting the trophy. It's giving tens of thousands of our fans a moment for their life. Giving them great times.

"Maybe they have some problems at home so just to make them happy... we did it for our fans."

Palace have secured a place in the Europa League for the first time with the FA Cup triumph but Glasner admitted that the seismic achievement had yet to fully sink in.

The Austrian manager said: "For me, the strange thing is I feel empty.

"We said before the game that we wanted to write our own history and we have written a big chapter in our history, and next year we will do that again when we play in Europe.

"We have great characters, such a togetherness, a work ethic and a strong environment and atmosphere, and this is fundamental for achieving impossible things."

Eberechi Eze scored the only goal of the final and was left lost for words as Palace held out to defeat City - who will end a campaign trophyless for the first time since 2017.

The England international said: "This is special, I don't even know what to say.

"Thank God. Only God could do this.

"Facing the team that's been the best in the world for years, to show that type of spirit and energy."
