Terri Harper to achieve career 'dream'

Terri Harper’s fight against Natalie Zimmerman will see her fulfil a “dream”.

The WBO lightweight champion will top a bill in her native Doncaster on Friday (23.05.25) night and she’s admitted it will be something she’ll remember forever.

She told Boxing News magazine: “I have experienced so much in my career but this is like the cherry on top.

“When I heard GBM Sports was doing a show in Doncaster, I just wanted to be on it.

“The fact that I am headlining makes it really special.

“I think it is every fighter’s dream to headline a stadium show in front of their home crowd.

“I am just really grateful for everyone who put the work in behind the scenes to get it over the line to give me this amazing opportunity.

“It will be a great memory for the rest of my life.”

Terri began questioning her future last March when she failed in a bid to win the WBO welterweight title against Sandy Ryan but in September, she moved back down to lightweight and has realized that’s where she’s at her best.

She said: “I have found my weight division now, the one where I perform at my best.

“I’ve realized the hard way that you can’t just rock into any weight division you want.

“There are opportunities out there, but my goal over the next few years is to unify at lightweight.

“It’s every fighter’s dream to go undisputed, and there is no reason why I can’t do that.”
