Alexis Putellas ready for competitive Euro 2025

Alexia Putellas thinks Euro 2025 will be a “very competitive tournament”.

The Barcelona captain views the international game as similar to the Champions League for clubs because it “takes more” to claim victory.

She told FourFourTwo magazine: “I always see international tournaments as being like the Champions League, it takes more to win it.

“Everybody is on point, at the maximum and focusing on the details.

“It’ll be a very competitive tournament.

“We’ll prepare well and then go round by round, group stage first.

“I hope it’ll be another big summer for us – and I want to show the best version of myself too.”

Alexia doesn’t think Spain will have an easy ride during the group stages.

She said: “It’s very complicated. We’ve faced these sides a lot recently and know how tough they’ll be – Portugal were in our Nations League group, Italy were in our Nations League group before that, and Belgium were in our Euro 2025 qualifying group.”

The midfielder believes England will be the favourites to win but won’t discount her own side.

Asked who she thinks are Euro 2025 favourites, she said: “England, the defending champions, for sure – they have such a strong squad.

“I don’t want to leave anyone out, but Germany, Sweden, Norway too. And Spain – our individual level means we’ll be there or thereabouts.”
