Man Utd CEO Omar Berrada maintains 2028 Premier League title target

Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada says the club will keep their target of winning the Premier League title by 2028.

The Red Devils endured their worst league campaign for over half a century last term as they could finish 15th in the Premier League but Berrada is convinced that the club can be champions again in United's 150th anniversary year.

Berrada told the fanzine United We Stand : "It's establishing a series of targets within a timeframe so we can focus our efforts and energy on that goal.

"Can the team win the Premier League title by 2028? Of course.

"We've just finished 15th and it seems an impossible task. But why not aim for it? Why not do everything in our power?"

The CEO joined United from local rivals Manchester City last year and believes that the team can turn matters around in quick fashion.

He said: "I firmly believe we can do it.

"We have two or three summer windows to build a team to start competing to win the Premier League.

"Nobody is saying we don't want to win it until then. We're setting ourselves a target with a specific time frame to go and aim for."

United will not be in European competition next season and manager Ruben Amorim believes that the lack of matches could enable him to get his ideas across to the players in a more effective manner.

He said: "I have to say that for us not to be in the Champions League could be an advantage to perform well, to perform better, to prepare better [for] the games.

"To build that core that we need for the future so I think it's a good thing for us to take advantage not to have European games."
