The 26-year-old forward had missed Madrid’s opening Club World Cup match against Al-Hilal on Wednesday (06.18.25) in Miami, and had checked into hospital with “an acute case of gastroenteritis”.
Now, the LaLiga club has confirmed Mbappe has left hospital and is back at the team’s training base to continue his recovery.
In a statement published on Madrid’s website, the team wrote: “Our player Kylian Mbappe was discharged from the hospital this afternoon and has returned to the Real Madrid training camp.
“Mbappe will continue receiving specific medical treatment and will gradually return to team activity.”
Before Mardid’s match against Al-Hilal - which ended in a 1-1 draw - manager Xabi Alonso said Mbappe was “feeling a little better”, but was not in a position to play.
He said: “Kylian was feeling a little better, but not enough. It's better for him not to train. We'll wait until the last minute, we'll decide tomorrow.”
Following the match, Alonso admitted he was unsure as to whether Mbappe would be able to play in Madrid’s next game against Pachuca, which is set to kick off on Sunday (06.22.25).
The manager said: “I don’t know if Mbappe will be back for the next game. We’ll see. He wasn’t doing well in the last two days. He’s sick.”
In Madrid’s match with Al-Hilal, Gonzalo Garcia scored the opening goal for the LaLiga club in the 34th minute, though Ruben Neves equalized with a penalty seven minutes later.
Then during injury time, Federico Valverde missed a spot kick, and the game ended with a 1-1 draw.
Madrid’s 1-1 draw to Al-Hilal marked the first time the Spanish giants have failed to secure a victory in a Club World Cup match.
After the disappointing result, Alonso said Madrid had a lot to learn for their future matches in the tournament.
He told DAZN: “I would say that the first half was not as good as the second, we improved in the second half, we had better chances and better control.
“Every game we need to take positives, learn from what we can improve and every game will give us lessons to keep improving.
“We had great support, it was a great crowd, we have really big fans from all over the world and we are delighted with that.”
