Jude Bellingham thrilled to respond to brother Jobe Bellingham's debut goal for Borussia Dortmund

Jude Bellingham joked that he was delighted to respond to his brother Jobe Bellingham's debut goal for Borussia Dortmund.

The midfielder scored as Real Madrid defeated Mexican side Pachuca 3-1 at the Club World Cup on Sunday (22.06.25) and quipped that he had been "caned" after his younger sibling had found the net on his Dortmund debut against Mamelodi Sundowns the day before.

Bellingham told DAZN: "Everyone's been caning me yesterday saying he's better than me.

"I had to do something today. We're 1-1 now and we'll see for the rest of the tournament."

Real overcame an early red card for defender Raul Asencio to record their first win under new manager Xabi Alonso and Bellingham was impressed by the team's togetherness.

He said: "I think we stayed together.

"Obviously Raul made a little bit of a mistake in the game. It's fine, he's young and it's going to happen.

"I think it's really impressive to see the team come together and support each other, and obviously still win the game against a really good side. They had a lot of chances, Thibaut [Courtois, goalkeeper] was brilliant. Really happy with the team today."

Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made 10 saves during the match and Bellingham was grateful to the man between the sticks.

He said of his team-mate: "That's why he's there. We want to make him less busy next time, but that's why he's there. He's the best in the world for a reason and he saved us."

Alonso also praised Courtois for defying Pachuca as Real took a big step towards the knockout stages.

The coach said: "We are so happy that we have Thibaut in goal. Through many games he has shown he is so reliable.

"Today when we had to be defensive throughout the game with one player less, it became really intense for us. But we defended with a lot of sacrifice, solidarity. Really pleased with the performance with one less player."
