Manny Pacquiao has ‘two or three fights left’ after Mario Barrios match

Manny Pacquiao has “two or three fights left” after his Marrio Barrios match.

After first calling it quits in 2021, PacMan, 46, is set to return to the ring to challenge the WBC welterweight champion, 30, in Las Vegas on July 19, and has now admitted he likely doesn’t have long left before he takes off the gloves for good.

Pacquiao told Sky Sports: “I feel fast and I feel like the strength is still there. I can still do what I've done before in training. If anything, my team right now is trying to slow me down and making sure I get enough rest. I still want to push myself every day, but I know that I have to listen to my team.

“I think I have two or three more fights left. I feel like I could do this for another couple of years. But I'm just taking it one at a time.”

Reflecting on his loss to Yordenis Ugas in 2021 that sent him into retirement, Pacquiao said he had “a lot of distractions and problems” before the fight that are no longer present ahead of his Barrios brawl.

He said: “I had a lot of distractions and problems before the Yordenis Ugas fight. But right now I'm 100 per cent and there are no distractions. I'm just training and completely focused on the fight.”

Pacquiao admitted “it wasn’t a good feeling” when he threw in the towel in 2021 because deep down, he knew he wanted to continue his boxing career.

He said: “When I retired in 2021, it wasn't a good feeling because I had it in my heart and my mind that I can still fight. I've always known that I could still work hard and dedicate myself and focus on training. I've rested and now I'm back.”

Pacquiao emphasised he was “all in” on the Barrios fight and his chance to become a world title-holder again.

He said: “This fight is very important to me because it's history. I believe I'd be the first Hall of Famer to win another world title, and I'd also break my own record as the oldest welterweight world champion.”

If Pacquiao beats Barrios, he could face Conor Benn, who has been given the green light to challenge the victor of the fight.
