Anthony Joshua called out by Kingsley Ibeh for fight in Nigeria

Anthony Joshua has been called out by Kingsley Ibeh for a fight in Nigeria.

AJ, 36, has been out of action for a year after suffering an elbow injury during his fight with Daniel Dubois, 28, in September 2024, and The Black Lion, 31, has now called for Joshua to face him in Nigeria - insisting he would “definitely stop him”.

Speaking with Sky Sports, Ibeh said of a potential bout with Joshua: “We need the right platform and the right opponent to make a statement with and there'd be no better one than AJ.

“That would be definitely a dream come true. That would be amazing.”

Ibeh - who has had a run of 11 consecutive wins since his loss to Jared Anderson, 25, in 2021 - insisted it “doesn’t matter” where the possible fight with Joshua were to take place.

He said: “It doesn't matter where it is, I'm ready.

“Anywhere. It doesn't matter if it's in the UK. I would love to dance with him in the O2 Arena.

“I would definitely stop him, no questions about that, it's going to come down to how soon or how quickly it goes.”

In a message to British heavyweights, Ibeh said: “I'm willing to come to their home, their backyard and entertain.

“I like AJ, he's been my idol. [But] I have mean intentions. For the sport, I would love to give him the work and challenge that he's looking for.”

Ibeh - who is the cousin of former heavyweight Ike Ibeabuchi, 52 - recalled the moment he was introduced to boxing after his stint in American football.

He recounted: “It was a good way to get the aggression and anger out. Ever since then I started boxing. I played football here in the US, I played with the Cardinals.

“I've always lived in the gym, I've always worked out, boxing just became another passion for me.”

Ibeh said he was looking for a breakthrough victory.

He teased: “I'm just excited to see what the future holds. I really haven't even shown what we've been working on.”
