The 33-year-old foward’s future has been the subject of intense scrutiny after his recent public frustration and his omission from Liverpool’s midweek Champions League squad.
Speaking ahead of the Brighton game, Slot, said: “I will have a conversation with Mo this morning and the outcome of that conversation determines how it will look tomorrow.”
Salah was left out of the squad for Tuesday’s (12.09.25) victory over Inter Milan, a decision Slot insisted was “entirely up to [him]”, despite the escalation of discussions involving the Egyptian’s representatives since the fallout from the Leeds United match.
Following Liverpool's game with Leeds United, which ended 3-3, Salah said he felt like he had been “thrown under the bus” and had no relationship with Slot.
Slot said: “We’ve spoken a lot in the last week … between his representatives and ours, our representatives and him, between him and me.
“The next time I speak about Mo should be with him and not in here.”
Slot refused to be drawn on whether he expects an apology or needs one, repeatedly stressing that the matter must be addressed privately.
The manager also underlined that he has “no reasons” for wanting Salah to leave the club, despite the continuing speculation around potential interest from Saudi Pro League sides.
He said: “This club has won a lot of games with him. I have no reasons not wanting him to stay.”
Liverpool approach the Brighton match unbeaten in four games - their longest run since September - despite a depleted squad and a demanding schedule.
Slot praised the collective effort shown over the past fortnight.
He said: “The team worked really hard, put a lot of effort in … four games in 10 days with not a lot of players available is a compliment to the players.”
Federico Chiesa returns after illness, while Cody Gakpo and Wataru Endo remain sidelined for several weeks.
Alexander Isak, who impressed alongside Hugo Ekitike in Milan before picking up a knock, will be assessed on Friday (12.12.25) morning.
Slot expects the Isak–Ekitike partnership to develop with more minutes.
He said: “The more they play together, the more they will adapt to each other… we will see more of them.”
Liverpool’s vulnerability to direct play remains a concern ahead of Brighton’s visit, but Slot insisted the side is improving defensively, pointing to reduced chances conceded in recent fixtures.
With Anfield increasingly uneasy over results this season, the manager again emphasized adaptation and resilience.
