The Portuguese forward – who died alongside his brother Andre Silva in a car accident in July – was honoured on Saturday (27.12.25) before Liverpool played Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Rute Cardoso later took to Instagram to praise the supporters of her husband's former clubs.
Two of the couple's sons, Dinis and Duarte, joined the matchday mascots to lead Liverpool out of the tunnel at Anfield, and a banner which read: "Diogo Jota, forever in our hearts" was held by fans in the Kop stand before the Premier League game kicked off.
Rute wrote on Instagram afterwards: "From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the club and to all the fans for the love, respect and support shown during this incredibly difficult time.
"Your messages and gestures have meant more than words can express."
Jota joined Wolves on an initial season-long loan fromAtletico Madrid in 2017 and went on to score 44 goals in his 131 appearances for the Midlands club.
At Liverpool, he bagged 65 goals and turned out 182 times, winning silverware including the FA Cup and EFL Cup in 2022 and the Premier League title last season.
As a mark of respect, the club retired his number 20 shirt following his death.
