Erling Haaland has to 'improve' Manchester City goal return

Erling Haaland says that he has to "improve" his performances for Manchester City.

The Norwegian striker's injury-time penalty in the 2-1 win over Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday (08.02.26) was just his second goal in the past eight games and he says he has no excuses for the disappointing run of form.

Haaland told reporters: "I haven't scored enough goals since the start of this year, you can say, and I know that I need to improve.

"I know I need to be more sharp, better at all of this, and this is something that I have to work on.

"I have to keep going because this is what everyone deserves and expects.

"I don't want to speak about why I haven't performed. I don't think there's any excuse. Fatigue is a lot is in the head.

"It's a lot of games. Look at the schedule, it's not easy, and for me, it's about staying fit, don't get injured.

"That's the most important thing. And try to be ready to help the team."

City's crucial win over Liverpool ensured they remain six points behind Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table and Haaland says that the team still believe they can overtake the Gunners.

The forward said: "We've seen before that the title race is not over until it's over.

"So for me right now, I need to go shower and get back on the bus, recover, eat some good food, and focus on Fulham, because there's still many games."

City manager Pep Guardiola says his team has to keep the pressure on Arsenal in the event that the Gunners slip up.

The coach said: "We are six points behind. OK, it is a big gap, but many things can happen, so it's better to have the three points.

"All we can do is breathe down the neck of Arsenal, being there, and try if they slip, if they make something [a mistake], use it.

"We have to play them at home (in April), so of course we have to beat them."
