Shane Williams slams PRO12 mess

Former Wales wing Shane Williams says the proposed revamp of the Guinness PRO12 has been "shambolic" and a "complete mess".

The Pro12 hierarchy have revealed they are hoping to find two South African Super Rugby sides to add to the league for the coming season but there has be no news on who, or even if this proposal will happen.

The new campaign is due to get underway in September and there is yet to be a fixture list sent out, increasing the frustration levels for both the teams and the supporters who are unable to plan ahead.

Williams, who is Wales' record try scorer, has given a frank assessment on what has been happening and he believes the changes have been handled atrociously by those in charge.

Writing for the Rugby Paper, he stated: "It's a complete mess and it's a situation the league just doesn't need right now. I'm all for trying something different and bringing in new teams, but the way it's been done by the organisers has just been shambolic. Who is in charge of all of this?

"As we head into August we still don't know the fixture list for the new season and that can't be doing anyone involved any good at all."
