Callum Wilson set for cup run

Callum Wilson set for cup run

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is considering throwing in Callum Wilson for the Carabao Cup clash with Middlesbrough.

The striker, who is on the way back from a second serious knee injury, played for the Under-23s last week, but is not yet ready for Premier League action.

Fellow striker Jermain Defoe (hamstring) will once again be absent along with defenders Tyrone Mings (back) and Brad Smith (hip).

Howe has already said he will make wholesale changes to the Premier League side which won at Stoke and, discussing Wilson's chances of being involved against Boro, he said: "Potentially, Callum is going to come into my thinking.

"We would have to check with the medical team that they feel it is the right time to blood him into a starting position."
