Roma defender emerges as Liverpool target

Liverpool are plotting a move for Roma left-back Emerson Palmieri according to reports in Italy.

The Anfield side have conceded 16 goals in just nine Premier League games this season and manager Jurgen Klopp is understood to be eager to boost his defensive options when the January transfer window reopens.

Roma full-back Palmieri has now emerged as a potential target and it is thought the 23-year-old Brazilian will command a fee in the region of £22million.

Palmieri has yet to feature for the Giallorossi this season after sustaining a cruciate ligament injury in May but began training with the Roma youth team earlier this month and is expected to return to the first-team set up next month.

Roma may well be open to offers for the defender as they signed Aleksandar Kolarov in the summer and he has been in impressive form for the Serie A side.
