Steven Defour undergoes successful surgery

Burnley midfielder Steven Defour has taken to social media to confirm his knee surgery was successful.

The Belgium international required an operation after scans revealed that he had an issue with knee cartilage.

Sean Dyche admitted that the midfielder was happy to continue playing through the pain barrier, however he was eventually convinced to address the problem.

Defour is now expected to miss the rest of the season as he works on his rehabilitation and could be forced out of the 2018 World Cup as a result.

Defour wrote on Instagram: "All went fine. Thanks for all your messages. Motivates me to come back as soon as possible."
