Dominic Calvert-Lewin refreshed after break

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin says he will benefit from the enforced rest that boss Sam Allardyce has given him.

The youngster was a regular in the side in the first half of the campaign but has been rested by the manager in recent weeks and missed the games with West Brom, Arsenal and Crystal Palace.

He is hoping he will be back in the side for the return to Premier League clash with Watford at the weekend but says his lay-off has done him good.

He told the Echo: "I think having the rest against West Brom probably has benefited me. I played more games in that period of time (August-January) than ever before. As a person and a player I want to play every game I can.

"But the gaffer made the decision to take me out and I probably am feeling a lot fresher in my legs and ready to go now.

"I have played 37 out of the 40 games, so I am delighted with how much I have been involved."
