Thiago Alcantara aware of Bayern danger

Thiago Alcantara says Bayern Munich have to be wary that they remain one of the biggest scalps in the Champions League.

The Bavarians head into Wednesday's last-16 second-leg tie against Besiktas leading 5-0 and could be forgiven for taking their eye off the ball with RB Leipzig on the agenda in the Bundesliga at the weekend.

Bayern last won this competition in 2013 but their omens look good this time around, with the man who guided them to that success, Jupp Heynckes, back in the dugout.

Despite their lack of overall success, the German champions have still been regulars in the latter stages and Thiago believes his side remain one of the continent's big guns, especially now they seem to be hitting their straps.

"We are still one of the three, four teams that everyone wants to beat," the 26-year-old told ESPN FC.

"We have the same team but a mentality that's a little bit better.

"Maybe it's because the people know the trainer from before, and they want exactly what the trainer wants. This fusion makes the team a little bit more aggressive."
