Spurs face fresh Pochettino speculation

Tottenham could face worries over boss Mauricio Pochettino's future following Zinedine Zidane's departure from Real Madrid.

Zidane confirmed on Thursday that he has stepped down from his role as Real manager less than a week after he guided the Spanish giants to a third successive Champions League crown.

Pochettino has emerged as one of the early frontrunners to succeed Zidane at the Bernabeu, despite the fact he signed a new five-year contract with Spurs last week.

Reports in Spain claim that the Argentine's new contract contains a release clause that would allow him to enter negotiations with Real, although the British press insist that is not the case.

Spurs underlined their intentions to keep hold of Pochettino by making him the highest-paid person at the club, while the north Londoners are hopeful that star players like Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Jan Vertonghen, Hugo Lloris and Christian Eriksen will follow in their manager's footsteps and sign new contracts soon.
