The Gunners splashed out £30 million to sign the Uruguay international from Sampdoria during the summer and he has begun to show what he is capable of doing in recent weeks, having been used sparingly by Emery during the early part of the season.
The 22-year-old has quickly established himself as one of the north London outfit's top midfielders, putting in another all-action display in Sunday's 5-1 win over Fulham.
Emery was full of praise for Torreira following Arsenal's ninth win in succession and says he has all the right qualities needed to become a top midfielder while at the Emirates Stadium.
The Spaniard said: "It's his first season here at this level but he was playing in Italy which is a very hard competition also."
When asked about his best qualities, Emery added: "The first is his humility to work every day, to listen, to learn. He is playing today in the middle, then right in the 4-4-2 and his performance is the same.
"I think his career is just starting and we want to do it with him, he can do it with us, giving us and giving him the best performances at the best level."
