Jesus talks up confidence

Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus feels his four goals against Burton have given his confidence a real lift going forward.

The Brazil international tormented the Burton defence in their Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday, as Pep Guardiola's side notched up a 9-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium.

With Sergio Aguero missing through illness, Jesus was the focal point of the Citizens' attack and the South American thrived in the encounter against the League One side.

With Wolves to come in the Premier League on Monday, Jesus feels his confidence has been lifted by the cup outing in midweek.

"It was very important for my mentality," he told reporters. "I need to score goals, I know that. Sometimes it's difficult but I always try to score and help the team.

"I am a striker so I have to score, but I always try to play well and help the team every time. This week is special to me because I have scored a lot.

"I maybe I tried too hard against Rotherham [in a 7-0 FA Cup third round win on Sunday] and missed two or three goals. I work hard every day on scoring goals, and that is why this made me so happy, as my work paid off."
