Silva needs time - Sigurdsson

Gylfi Sigurdsson says boss Marco Silva needs to be given time to succeed at Everton.

Silva was appointed Everton manager in the summer, succeeding Sam Allardyce following his brief six months in charge at Goodison Park.

It was hoped the former Watford and Hull chief would get the Toffees challenging for a top-six place or better this season but it's been an inconsistent campaign and his side currently sit 10th in the Premier League, 11 points behind Manchester United in sixth.

Iceland international Sigurdsson, who has hit nine goals this term, has admitted fans need to be patient with Silva but he's confident things are moving in the right direction.

"Of course, yes, it does take time," he told Sky Sports.

"It's his first season, when he came in he wanted to make changes to the way the club plays and how he wants to move the club on in the future.

"It is a process when a new manager comes in and I think he's doing a really good job at the moment."
