The tool, called Manage Subscriptions, has been introduced on the web version of Gmail first, with Android support expected from July 14 and iOS from July 21.
The new feature introduces a dedicated panel in Gmail’s left-hand menu where users can view a list of senders who regularly contact them, which are sorted by the frequency of emails received in recent weeks.
From there, users can drill into each sender to view recent messages and choose to unsubscribe directly, with Gmail handling the request on the user’s behalf.
Chris Doan, Gmail’s Director of Product, said in a statement: “It can be easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of subscription emails clogging your inbox.”
He added that the new feature is intended to give users more visibility and control over recurring messages that often end up in tabs like Promotions or Updates.
Manage Subscriptions will be available to both personal Gmail users and Google Workspace accounts in select regions.
Until now, Gmail users have relied on one-click unsubscribe links within individual emails.
The Manage subscriptions tool offers a centralised way to view and take action across multiple senders at once, which is expected to make inbox organisation much more manageable.
According to Google’s blog post, this tool complements Gmail’s wider efforts to improve productivity and inbox management.
The company has recently added other features, including AI-powered Smart Replies and contextual summaries for emails, in a bid to enhance the overall user experience.
