According to Bloomberg, the second-generation Vision Pro will include Apple's latest silicon used in its 2025 Mac range.
The headset will also supposedly feature a redesigned head strap aimed at better comfort and stability - a key user complaint with the original model, which debuted last year.
Although the first Vision Pro impressed many with its technical prowess, its $3,500 price tag and limited appeal have reportedly led to slower-than-expected sales.
Bloomberg notes the next headset will not offer major new features, but will focus instead on refinements, including making the device lighter and more comfortable to wear for extended periods.
Apple has not officially confirmed the specifications or release window for the updated headset, but Bloomberg claims that development is well underway - and Apple is aiming to make the product more viable for a broader market segment.
In addition to the M4-powered Vision Pro 2, Apple is said to still be working on a cheaper headset.
That device is expected to use lower-cost components and might skip some of the more advanced display and camera features in an effort to bring the price down.
As Bloomberg noted, Apple is attempting to strike a balance between innovation and affordability in the high-stakes Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality market, where competitors like Meta continue to dominate in lower price brackets.
The Vision Pro 2 is expected to launch sometime in late 2025 or early 2026, though no official timeline has been released.
