The developer explained that adopting a first-person perspective was essential for delivering an authentic Indiana Jones experience for the action-adventure game, as doing so would immerse players directly into the role of the iconic archaeologist.
He told GamesRadar+: “If you’re going to be Indiana Jones, you need to look through his eyes. You need to feel like him.”
He added: “How would we make you as a first-person player feel like Indiana Jones? We knew that would be really hard, but actually it was one of the things that we felt we hit.
”It took years, of course, but it wasn't the hardest part making this game. It was a lot of the other things that I would highlight as ‘we didn't get this right until at the very end.’”
Set in 1937, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle follows the titular archaeologist as he embarks on a globe-trotting adventure to uncover the secrets of the Great Circle, a mysterious alignment of ancient sites.
Players navigate through diverse environments, including Vatican City, Egypt, and the Himalayas, engaging in puzzles, stealth, and combat.
MachineGames’ commitment to this perspective is rooted in their expertise with first-person narratives, as seen in their previous titles like the Wolfenstein franchise.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
