The popular app has attracted considerable criticism in recent days for its decision to overhaul its latest redesign, with consumers saying that the new layout is considerably harder to use.
The update has also been criticised by a number of its celebrity users, including the likes of Kylie Jenner and Chrissy Teigen.
On Twitter, Chrissy wrote: "How many people have to hate an update for it to be reconsidered?"
Meanwhile, Kylie asked her Twitter followers what they thought of the changes, and then agreed with one of her followers who admitted they dislike it.
According to Rohan Midha, managing director of influencer marketing agency PMYB, Snapchat has made a mistake in deciding to remove highly influential people, like celebrities, from its friends section.
Speaking to the BBC, he explained: "They hadn't realised the value that influencers add to the app.
"People want to follow influencers because they really like them, whereas Snapchat just sees them as brands."
Despite this, the expert doubts whether Snapchat would be pressured into making a change.
He added: "It doesn't surprise me that so many people have signed it. But I don't think this large Silicon Valley company is going to take notice of a petition."
