Dollywood snags three highly-coveted theme park industry awards

Dollywood has snagged three highly-coveted theme park industry awards.

The theme park - which is partly owned by country superstar Dolly Parton, 76 - took home a trio of nods from the Golden Ticket Awards from Amusement Today.

The gongs were awarded on Saturday night (10.09.2022) following a poll carried out by the awarding body.

Their first win was the Best Guest Experience, which looked many facets of spending time at the park, including staff friendliness, cleanliness and value for money, an award they have won three times before, making them the only park to have achieved the milestone in the award’s four year history, which took a break in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dollywood also was celebrated as having The Best Kids’ Area for their Wildwood Grove for the third time after adding the Big Bear Mountain roller coaster.

Finally, they also were victorious in the Best Christmas Event, marking the park’s 14th prize for the Smoky Mountain Christmas park.

The ‘Jolene’ hitmaker - who bought a stake in the land in the 80s after it was first opened as a small tourist attraction in 1961 by the Robbins brothers - quipped that awards were “nice” but didn’t motivate her but admitted loving looking after her guests.

Dolly said: “We don’t do what we do to win awards, but they sure are nice. Seriously though, we’re proud of the recognition we receive because it means we’re doing well at what we want to do — take care of the great folks who come to visit our park year after year.”

Along with the top spots, Dollywood was the runner up in the Most Beautiful Park, Best Food, Best Park to Germany’s Europa-Park and maintained being ranked in the Best Wooden Roller Coaster category for their Thunderhead ride.
