The long haul trio have recorded significant year on year growth in enquiries, with Zanzibar up 32 per cent, Saudi Arabia rising 39 per cent and Malaysia soaring by 275 per cent as travellers look beyond traditional hotspots.
Senior product director at Away Holidays, Gianni Leone, said: "Though some of these places might not immediately spring to mind as a typical holiday destination, they are rapidly growing in appeal.
"Families are looking particularly at longer haul adventures, with Malaysia offering resorts in Langkawi and Borneo that combine wildlife adventures such as orangutan encounters and jungle explorations with family-friendly pools and tours."
Saudi Arabia continues to gather momentum, driven by demand for distinctive accommodation and immersive cultural experiences. The ancient desert landscape of AlUla is playing a key role in that rise, offering centuries old monuments and tombs set against cinematic backdrops.
Beyond AlUla, the country presents a broad mix of Arabian deserts, mountain scenery and unspoilt coastline. The Red Sea is attracting divers and snorkellers with its coral reefs and clear waters, while sacred cities such as Makkah and Medina appeal to those seeking cultural depth. Trekking, desert exploration and outdoor pursuits are also helping to reshape perceptions of the destination.
Zanzibar has emerged as a leading Indian Ocean alternative, particularly for honeymooners, with enquiries climbing 32 per cent.
Increasingly positioned as a white sand rival to the Maldives, the archipelago combines beaches with culture and value.
Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, draws visitors with its Indo Arabian architecture and Swahili heritage. Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park offers the chance to see rare monkeys, while Paje Beach provides space for snorkelling and sunbathing. Known as the Spice Island for its cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon, Zanzibar also delivers standout East African cuisine.
Malaysia is shaping up as one of the fastest growing options for 2026. The country allows travellers to blend city life, wildlife and beaches within one itinerary. Kuala Lumpur offers urban energy, Borneo promises rainforest adventures and orangutan encounters, George Town in Penang showcases UNESCO listed streets and Langkawi delivers powder white beaches.
Food remains a major draw, from street stalls in Penang to seafood along the coast.
