Located in Adventureland, the popular dark ride resumed operations on July 13 after a scheduled maintenance period designed to update show elements and improve overall ride performance.
Disneyland Paris took to Instagram and posted a video detailing the refurbishment process, with the caption reading: “All aboard! The iconic Pirates of the Caribbean attraction reopens today. Follow us behind the scenes to meet the teams in charge of the renovation.”
Pirates of the Caribbean has been a fixture at Disneyland Paris since the park opened in 1992.
While the version in France differs slightly from its counterparts in the U.S. and Asia, it retains the same core experience: guests board boats and journey through a series of elaborate pirate-themed scenes, featuring audio-animatronic characters, cannon battles, and the iconic Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me) theme song.
Although no major structural changes have been introduced during the latest refurbishment, several visual enhancements are evident.
Reports from park visitors indicate brighter lighting in key scenes, upgraded sound effects, and improved pacing of boat dispatches to reduce queue times.
The attraction’s queue area and loading zone also appear to have undergone routine upkeep, with repainted railings and cleaned set pieces.
Disneyland Paris has not issued an official statement about the scope of the refurbishment, which was part of its rolling schedule of attraction updates timed to the resort’s busy summer period.
Pirates of the Caribbean remains one of the most popular and high-capacity rides in the park, drawing guests of all ages with its blend of storytelling, set design, and practical effects.
The ride reopened just in time for the start of the summer holiday season, alongside other seasonal offerings across the resort.
With high temperatures forecast for the coming weeks, water-based attractions like Pirates are expected to see a spike in demand.
