Running from 14 November 2025 to 4 January 2026 in West Kensington, the production transforms a hidden venue into Dickens’ own parlour on Christmas Eve, 1843.
Created by The Lost Estate, specialists in immersive storytelling, the show combines theatre, live music and Victorian dining to transport audiences into Dickens’ world. At its heart is actor David Alwyn, who takes on the role of Dickens himself while seamlessly moving between characters including Scrooge, Marley and Tiny Tim.
The performance is underscored by a live cinematic score composed by Steffan Rees and performed by three classical musicians. Together they shape the evening’s atmosphere, from dramatic crescendos to tender, quieter passages.
Executive Chef Ashley Clarke has curated a Victorian-inspired three-course menu to accompany the performance. Starters include potted rare breed beef, hot smoked salmon or potted cheese. Mains feature confit Gressingham duck leg or a king oyster mushroom pithivier, both served with traditional trimmings, while dessert is a Christmas pudding with brandy ice cream.
Seasonal cocktails such as the Smoking Bishop, Pear Tree Cup and Rumfustian are served from Dickens’ recreated cellar.
The setting is central to the experience. Designed by Darling + Edge, guests first enter a snow-dusted Victorian street before being welcomed into Dickens’ gaslit parlour. Richly decorated interiors, lantern-lit alleys and Victorian waitstaff create the impression of stepping into 19th-century London.
The production has built a reputation as one of the capital’s most atmospheric festive traditions since its launch eight years ago. Each year it has sold out, earning a devoted following drawn by its blend of live performance, music, dining and design.
