The new attraction, officially titled Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies!, will launch inside CBeebies Land this spring, expanding the resort’s popular offering for younger guests and families.
A new image released by Alton Towers Resort shows Bluey and her younger sister Bingo riding the coaster dressed as their alter egos, the mischievous Grannies Janet and Rita.
The attraction takes its inspiration from a fan-favourite episode of the Emmy Award-winning animated series Bluey, in which the sisters dress up as the chaotic Grannies, known for their wild driving, playful dance moves and general mayhem. The theme has proven hugely popular with audiences worldwide, making it a natural fit for the brand’s first-ever coaster experience.
The new ride will sit alongside existing Bluey offerings at the park, including the much-loved meet-and-greet with Chilli, Bandit, Bluey and Bingo, as well as the live stage show hosted in Big Fun Showtime. Together, the experiences have helped establish CBeebies Land as one of the UK’s leading destinations for preschool entertainment.
In addition to the attraction itself, Alton Towers Resort has also confirmed plans to introduce more Bluey-themed hotel rooms at the CBeebies Land Hotel, allowing families to extend the experience beyond the park gates.
Howard Ebison, Vice President of Alton Towers Resort, said: “We can’t wait to welcome the mischievous and limitless energy of the Grannies to the resort when we open Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! this spring.
"Alongside even more bespoke Bluey-themed hotel rooms, we’re excited for fans to enjoy the new attraction and immerse themselves in the mayhem of the Grannies.”
Natasha Spence, Events Director, Live Entertainment at BBC Studios, said: “We know that whenever the Grannies come out to play, it is a fan-favourite moment for those that love the show. We are excited that the energy of these much-loved characters is being brought to life in Bluey’s first-ever coaster.”
More details about the new attraction are expected to be shared in the coming months. Find out more at altontowers.com.
