Mikel Arteta hails Arsenal's will to win after stunning Man Utd victory

Mikel Arteta hailed Arsenal's will to win as they scored two late goals to beat Manchester United.

Stoppage time strikes from Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus turned a draw into a win for the Gunners in Sunday's (03.09.23) Premier League game and Arteta thinks the triumph will have a lasting impact on his players.

He told Sky Sports News: "We all worked so hard and planned everything for moments like this.

"These moments will stick with us, with the crowd so connected to the team with the big history of these matches, it's great.

"The will, the determination of the team, that will to win and go and go and go, I'm so proud of them.

"A team needs different tools to win football matches, and the capacity to react. We did that in the first half and that set the tone and brought some calmness to the team."

Meanwhile, Arteta urged new signing Kai Havertz to be patient as he looks to make an impact following his summer arrival from London rivals Chelsea.

He said: "I said to him yesterday, things are hard in the beginning. When I met my wife, in the beginning it was hard to conquer her and I had to try and keep messaging. In the end, she said yes, she wanted to be together and it was beautiful. If it is a yes on the first day, it is not that great. I think the crowd was really good with him today."
