The 49-year-old manager expects there to be a “special” atmosphere at his side’s games in the tournament because so many Turks live in the country and he feels the players have a “responsibility” to do their supporters proud.

He told World Soccer magazine: “The atmosphere at our games will be special.

“So many Turks have their homes in Germany, it will be like playing at home.

“I had a taste of this fervour when we beat Germany in Berlin in November.

“Our aim is to make those fans proud of us. It’s our responsibility.

“One of the key priorities for me is to translate the obvious Turkish passion for the game to the national team’s displays.

“I want to harness that spirit. I’m convinced it will be the case at the Euros.”

Vincenzo is expecting every game Turkey play in the tournament to be “difficult”.

He said: “What my 30 years in the game has taught me is that every match is difficult at this level, with very high standards.

“Not much separates all the qualified teams.

“You have to cut out the errors, you can’t underestimate anyone.

“Expect the unexpected, I would say.”
