The Bayern Munich striker idolised the England legend when he was growing up and will never forget his free-kick against Greece in a World Cup qualifier back in 2001.
He told FourFourTwo magazine: “I met him when I was young and I will remember the Greece free kick forever, as I know a lot of England fans will.
“He was just someone I really looked up to, he played with so much passion and because of the role model he was away from the pitch, he was the perfect example for me.”
As a youngster, Harry followed in David’s footsteps as a pupil at Chingford Foundation School in east London, which contributed to the Manchester United ace being his “idol” from a young age.
Harry said: “He was a big idol of mine, being England captain and one of the best players in the world.
“He was from Chingford where I’m from, and went to the same school as me.
“I can’t imagine that’s happened too often with England captains.
“It was the way he conducted himself on and off the pitch, I really appreciated him, I was a huge admirer of his.”
