Gary Neville: Man Utd need to sell 10 players in transfer window

Gary Neville has urged Manchester United to sell 10 players this summer.

The Red Devils have experienced their worst-ever Premier League campaign and the club legend believes that a major overhaul of Ruben Amorim's squad is needed during the transfer window - regardless of whether the club can salvage Champions League qualification by winning the Europa League final against Tottenham next week.

Neville told The Overlap Fan Debate: "You're talking about eight to 10 players have to go.

"There's three or four players that will leave through being out of contract, and he needs to get [another] five or six out, and they're going to have to pay to get them out.

"(Marcus) Rashford's wages now will be paid half by Manchester United. That's £180,000-a-week, £8 million-a-year being paid by United."

Neville also fears that United's "abhorrent" record in the transfer market over the past decade could rear its head again during what is set to be a pivotal summer.

The Sky Sports pundit said: "I genuinely believe it's been a graveyard for every player that's joined that club in the last 10 years apart from Bruno.

"There's not one player joined that club that's improved apart from Bruno Fernandes, and he's a stand out to be fair, he's amazing what he's doing.

"The rest of them, whether you go back to [Angel] Di Maria and [Bastian] Schweinsteiger, every player that's signed has gone backwards."

Neville is fearful that United will lose the Europa League final as he believes that Tottenham have superior personnel.

He said: "United do have a couple of players, the likes of Casemiro and Bruno, they have something in them that will step up for a one-off game.

"But if the players play like they should, Tottenham should win that game."
