Carlos Alcaraz gives little thought to the way he and Jannik Sinner are impacting tennis

Carlos Alcaraz is "not thinking about" the impact that he and Jannik Sinner are having on men's tennis.

The pair have met in the past two Grand Slam finals and look set to dominate a sport moving on from the 'Big Three' era of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, but the Spaniard is happy to let others "talk" about the dynamic between the two of them.

Alcaraz said: "Jannik and I, I think we've done great things in tennis already in such a short period.

"I just let the people talk about our rivalry, or the things that we have done for the history books in tennis. I'm not thinking about the history we're making in tennis.

"I think we have such a long career ahead just to see how far we can go. And if we already made - or not - history in tennis... it's just for the people to discuss it."

Alcaraz and Sinner have a good relationship despite vying for the game's major prizes and the five-time Grand Slam champion can understand why others hope for more spikiness between the duo.

He told the Financial Times: "Trash-talking gets a lot of attention. People really like the idea that there is friction between us. That’s what sells, but although tennis is an individual sport, we are with the same players every week, day in and day out.

"Jannik and I, who have had great battles on the court, see each other a lot off of it. We talk, we train together sometimes. And in the end, you forge a good relationship, a beautiful relationship.

"We want to win and beat each other, but then off court, being good people and getting along is another matter. For me, that is one of the virtues and values of sport."
