Tottenham sack Thomas Frank

Thomas Frank has been sacked by Tottenham after eight months in charge.

The Danish coach has been axed by Spurs after Tuesday's (10.02.26) 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle left the club 16th in the Premier League table, just five points above the relegation places.

The defeat means that Tottenham have only won two of their past 17 league matches.

The club said in a statement: "The club has taken the decision to make a change in the men's head coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today.

"Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together.

"However, results and performances have led the board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary.

"Throughout his time at the club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the club forward. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future."

Frank left his role as Brentford boss to replace Ange Postecoglou at Spurs last June but struggled to win over Spurs supporters, who became increasingly disgruntled with poor performances and results.

He leaves having only won 13 of his 38 games in charge, with the Newcastle defeat giving him the worst Premier League win percentage of any Tottenham boss at just 26.9 per cent.

Frank's replacement will take over a side that faces a relegation battle in the Premier League, but remain in the Champions League after they secured automatic qualification for the last 16.

The coach insisted after the loss to Newcastle that he still expected to be in charge for the north London derby against Arsenal on February 22.

Asked if his job was under threat, he told TNT Sports: "I spoke to them [the owners] yesterday, so no.

"I understand the frustration and the easiest thing is to point at me. That's part of the job unfortunately.

"I will work day and night to turn this around but it is not just one person. There is no doubt we need to improve and I need to be part of that."
