The 28-year-old German has been recovering from a knock and is set to return to training on Friday, with Town boss David Wagner revealing that 'he could be tight to be included in the squad' for the game against the Baggies at the Hawthorns.
Laurent Depoitre has already returned to training from an ankle injury and could also come back into the fold while Elias Kachunga and Aaron Mooy are the only definite absentees.
The Terriers sit in the final position of safety and are seven points clear of West Brom going into the game. Wagner wants his players to use their last league outing - a 4-1 home win against Bournemouth - and other positive recent displays to spur them on this weekend.
He told his pre-match press conference: "We know exactly what our strengths are, know exactly what we are confident with and know exactly what it looks like in a good way; this is what we try to do in every single game home or away.
"We have done it in the last three games very well, absolutely, and this is exactly the momentum that we always wanted to search for and now we have it.
"Now we will work and fight to keep this momentum for as long as we can, the next step is Saturday for us."
