Reds will have to break bank and pay £200m to land top target

Manchester United are keen on a deal for Gareth Bale but reports claim his valuation has now sky rocketed to £200million.

The former Tottenham man again showed his class with two goals, one a stunning overhead kick, as Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 in the Champions League final on Saturday night.

However speaking afterwards Bale suggested that he may not be with the European Champions for much longer and will consider his future over the next few weeks.

Bale has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Real side and is keen to move on in search of first-team football, leading to reports a return to England is inevitable.

United are known admirers and are said to be at the front of the queue, but Bale's performance at the weekend appears to be a costly one for the Reds, who will have to smash their transfer record to land him.

Such a figure would rule out the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool, while Manchester City are not said to be interested, meaning United are in the box seat if they are happy to match Real's valuation.
