The Manchester City winger was due to return on Monday but his manager felt he could do with some additional downtime after his impressive efforts last season.
Sane was a virtual ever-present during the title-winning campaign, which also saw him land the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
Guardiola is believed to be conscious of the mental blow the 22-year-old suffered after surprisingly being omitted from Germany's World Cup squad at the end of May.
It's understood Sane will now meet up with his City colleagues when they fly out to New York next Tuesday, ahead of games in the International Champions Cup against Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
City insiders insist Sane is appreciative of the extra holiday time and it will certainly do no harm when it comes to negotiations over an improved contract, with both parties keen to pen a new agreement before the summer is out.
