Invincible linked with Arsenal return

Arsenal have reportedly offered former midfielder Edu the chance to return to the club as the new director of football at the Emirates.

The Brazilian achieved cult status during his four years in north London following his arrival from Corinthians in 2001, earning the tag of an 'Invincible' for his role in the Gunners unbeaten 2003-04 season.

That was one of two Premier League title winners' medals he collected while at Arsenal, also helping the club win two FA Cups before leaving for Valencia in 2005.

Since hanging up his boots, Edu has worked his way up to become Technical Director of the Brazilian national team having previously worked as Corinthians' director of football.

According to reports in the Brazilian press, Arsenal have tabled an offer for Edu which would see him become the club's new director of football as the shake-up of the technical staff at the Emirates Stadium continues.

The Brazil Football Association are keen not to lose Edu though, believing he is key to reshaping the national team ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
