The Facebook-owned photo-sharing app has pulled the insensitive filters, including one which decides how likely you are to be diagnosed with the respiratory virus and another which falsely claims to have a cure for Covid-19.
In a bid to prevent the spreading of misinformation, the app has also pushed data from the World Health Organization (WHO) onto users' feeds.
In a statement, they said: "To help people get relevant and up-to-date resources, we will start showing more information from WHO and local health ministries at the top of Instagram's Feed in some countries."
Instagram users will no longer get any results when they type
"coronavirus" into the search tool on the Instagram Effect Gallery.
