A study by Google Pixel 3a says the busy yacht harbour is the perfect place to take a photo, whilst Oxford University and London's Tower Bridge comes in third place.
In the capital, the iconic landmarks of the London Eye, Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace also ranked highly amongst visitors after the perfect photo.
Portrait photographer Linda Blacker said: "The best backdrops are those that are instantly recognisable like London's/UK's top spot, because this provides an exciting opportunity to capture an iconic landmark in a whole new way, your way.
"However, no matter how great the backdrop is, having a camera that you can rely on to capture a high quality image first time, every time is essential. This is particularly important at locations with high footfall, like many popular landmarks, where you might only have one chance to take the perfect snap."
As part of the study, Google have revealed just some of the ways you can get the best selfie including picking a time of day which provides the best lighting. This includes the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset.
Elsewhere, Google stressed the importance of lighting, with natural light the preferred option whilst artificial lighting can be used at night time or specific camera settings would make for great night-time shots too.
