The Bronze Bomber, 40, was initially in negotiations to face The Cat, 39, before he ultimately switched to Del Boy, 42, and Wilder has now warned he is “coming” for Usyk after clashing with Chisora on April 4, 2026 at London’s O2 Arena.
Speaking with Queensberry Promotions, Wilder said: “I don’t see this fight going the distance, I really don’t, it’s impossible. Deep in my heart, [I know] it’s going to be a knockout. His style is designed and made for mine and my style is designed and made for his.
“It really is going to be [about] who lands the most and I am a true one-punch knockout artist.
“Most definitely, [after Chisora] I am coming for you Usyk. It’s going to be a great fight, push the horses, let’s go baby.”
Before the bout with Chisora was confirmed, Wilder had been in talks to fight Usyk at some point this year, but pivoted to Del Boy once the negotiations began to slow.
The former WBC heavyweight champion explained to talkSPORT: “Although we were in talks with Usyk, we still didn’t have a date or a place; we were still scrambling around. In boxing, things either go very slow or very fast. There is no in between, and this was very slow.”
Wilder noted time was a decisive factor as he weighed up his options late last year.
He said: “I am an older fighter; I can’t sit around like a young fighter.
“So while we were in negotiations with Usyk, we started negotiations with Chisora. This fight was supposed to happen back in December, so talks were already in an advanced stage.”
The Bronze Bomber then said that by the time progress was finally made on the Usyk front, it was too late to change direction.
He shared: “By the time everything had stalled with Usyk, we already got the fight signed with Chisora.
“Then, when we had it signed, that is when Usyk’s people came in and said, ‘Okay, let’s go, we are ready.’ But I wasn’t going to do Chisora like that.”
This comes after Queensberry boss Frank Warren teased the victor of Wilder vs Chisora could become the mandatory challenger to Usyk’s IBF belt.
He told Sky Sports: “The IBF, they’ll be calling for Usyk to defend. Usyk’s been given consent by the WBC, who’s the next one in, to have a voluntary defence. “
“After that he is supposed to fight Agit Kabayel, who will be the WBC mandatory challenger.
“But the mandatories are being ordered and they’re going to have to be dealt with. They could well be that. Derek was in that mandatory position.”
