Stuart Hogg excited for international return

Stuart Hogg is looking forward to making his return for Scotland in Saturday's autumn international against Samoa at Murrayfield.

Hogg has not played for Scotland since the Six Nations win over Italy back in March with his call-up to the British & Irish Lions squad for the tour of New Zealand ruling him out of his country's summer matches against the Azzurri, Australia and Fiji.

The 25-year-old's Lions tour was ended early after he fractured his cheekbone when accidentally colliding with team-mate Conor Murray during the warm-up victory over the Crusaders.

Hogg had been kept on the sidelines further after undergoing shoulder surgery and the Glasgow Warriors full-back only made his return to competitive action in the Champions Cup defeat to Leinster last month.

The attacking full-back admits he still has a way to go before getting back to his best, both physically and mentally, but he is looking forward to testing himself on the international stage against Samoa, New Zealand and Australia.

"Obviously I've only played two games and I think I've still got a lot to work on and improve on," he said. "I'm excited to be back. The mentality changes at international level and everything goes up a few notches.

"The boys are flying, very much excited for the challenges that are coming our way. We had a good week in camp last week and the boys are all fit and well after the weekend."
