The South Korean company is said to be expanding app compatibility from 20 to around 35 apps with the launch of One UI 8.
The Now Bar, which debuted earlier this year, acts as a persistent dock that allows Galaxy device users to quickly access and switch between apps without leaving their current screen.
While the feature - similar in functionality to Apple’s Live Activities on iPhone - has been praised for its convenience, users have requested greater flexibility and more third-party app integration.
Samsung appears to have listened, as the expanded support will bring compatibility with popular apps such as WhatsApp, Spotify, Instagram, and more.
It has been reported that Samsung is adding 15 additional apps to the Now Bar, while the update will also include better customisation options - allowing users to fine-tune their app shortcuts and the bar’s layout.
These improvements are expected to make the Now Bar a more central hub for multitasking, productivity, and entertainment.
Although Samsung has not confirmed an exact rollout date, the update is expected to arrive later this year alongside the stable release of One UI 8.
The company is reportedly conducting final testing to ensure smooth integration and performance across supported devices.
By nearly doubling app support and refining customisation features, Samsung aims to strengthen the Now Bar’s appeal and set its Galaxy software experience apart from other Android manufacturers.
