WWE 2K26 Showcase will explore alternate reality for CM Punk

WWE 2K26 will let players explore an alternate reality where CM Punk never left.

The current World Heavyweight Champion - who is on the cover of this year's game from 2K - famously walked out of an episode of Monday Night Raw in 2014, and only returned to the company in 2023 after making his wrestling comeback a couple of years earlier.

This year, the 2K Showcase: Punked mode will let fans step into his boots, combining authentic career milestones with alternate-history twists, and fantasy 'What if?' matches.

In 2Ks latest Ringside Report, it's been confirmed that the Showcase will kick off with Punk's WrestleMania 41 main event against Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns.

Other iconic matches set to feature include his WrestleMania 27 bout against Randy Orton, and his clash against The Undertaker at the huge event two years later.

More recently, Punk's bitter rivalry with Drew McIntyre will be included as fans can relive their brutal Hell In A Cell match at Bad Blood 2024.

When it comes to 'What if?', 2K is exploring different scenarios, including the idea Punk never left, or if certain rivalries have panned out in other ways.

In one of those matches, players can take control of Punk and his wife AJ Lee against The Miz and Maryse, with more alternate history bouts to be announced in due course.

For Fantasy Warfare, players can play as CM Punk against superstars he never got the chance to face in WWE, including the likes of 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and Eddie Guerrero.

The team has also created a special original arena, the CM Punkvillion, as a backdrop for the fantasy clashes.

Also new this time is the ability to skip the Showcase itself - which comes with cutscenes and commentary from Punk - and instead face a gruelling Gauntlet.

Anyone wanting to take a quicker route can choose Punk or AJ Lee and face all 20 Showcase opponents consecutively with "no shortcuts".

If players can survive The Gauntlet, they'll get full completion of Showcase with all rewards, including playable Legends, alternate attires, managers, championships and arenas.

WWE 2K26 will be released next month, with the standard edition dropping on March 13.

A week earlier, on March 6, the King of Kings, Attitude Era and Monday Night War editions will be released worldwide.
