Pet owners miss out on holidays

Pet owners miss out on annual holidays because of their commitment to their pet.

Whilst most Americans head on vacation twice or three times a year, pet owners say they only get away once every few years.

And when they do get away, 87 per cent of pet owners admit they are worried about how their pet is doing at home.

Tim Lyons, Managing Director of TrustedHousesitters, said: "It's a sad fact for pet owners that vacation planning can be such a hassle. Nearly a quarter we surveyed (23 per cent) only take a vacation once every few years, some even less often than that. Pet sitting does rely on finding a sitter that you can trust, but there is no need to miss out on cultural and travel experiences, just because you are a pet owner.

"TrustedHousesitters helps pet owners travel by connecting owners with animal lovers who will look after pets in their own homes and won't charge. Because we provide a pet care solution to home and pet owners in over 130 countries, our members travel on average up to three times a year, which is more than most US pet owners.

"Pet owners may well prioritize pets over social engagements but it doesn't mean they should forfeit their holidays too. While it is hard not to worry about an animal that is essentially part of the family, TrustedHousesitters can help pet owners travel more frequently by connecting them with caring and trusted pet lovers who don't charge a dime."
